Marché international de l'édition musicale (MIDEM) in Second Life
MIDEM is the world's largest music industry trade fair, bringing
together musicians, businesspeople, cultural policy makers, and
journalists from many countries. It provides a forum for business talks,
discussing political and legal issues, and showcasing new artists,
musical trends and music-related products.
This was the first time the world music trade show was simulcast into
SL.

Philanthropy in Virtual Worlds
In a historic moment, MacArthur Foundation President Jonathan Fanton
enters Second Life "en avi" to host a discussion with Linden Lab CEO
Philip Rosedale and Second Life Residents on the role of philanthropy in
virtual worlds. Over 300 residents listen and watch across six sims and
a web cast during the live dialogue. The event marks the start of a year-long program by the
USC Center on Public Diplomacy. 22nd June 2007

The iCommons Summit is produced in parallel in Real Life
and Second Life this year. Shown are MagnaTune partners John Buckman, presenting live from
Dubrovnik Croatia, and Jan Hanford, watching from London UK via Second
Life. The conference featured major keynote speakers including Wikipedia
Founder Jimmy Wales and Creative Commons Founder Lawrence Lessig. Second
Life attendance of 526 more than doubled the reach of the real world

of San Diego, California. Founder Champion Valiant led a team
to recreate the city in Second Life for the enjoyment of all. Custom
build elements include early and contemporary eras of San Diego as well
as urban and rural, sea and land locations.
